Join QIMA’s Karolyn Helda as she speaks with Dana Baiocco, Commissioner of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in this Q&A webinar about the responsibility of businesses to minimize risk to the end consumer.
Dana joined the CPSC for a seven-year term on June 1, 2018. With an extensive legal background in consumer product safety and public policy, Dana is an expert in risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, reporting obligations, warranties and product recalls.
In this webinar, Dana will share her knowledge of how businesses can proactively improve the safety of their products to protect themselves and the end consumer.
Karolyn Helda is the Managing Director of QIMA’s Laboratory in Buffalo, New York. She has worked in the consumer products safety, compliance and quality assurance industry for over 30 years. Her knowledge and direct experience span the categories of promotional products, toys and children’s products, softlines, general merchandise as well as consumable consumer goods such as food, over-the-counter drugs, health and beauty care items. Prior to assuming responsibility for the QIMA Buffalo lab operations, Karolyn held various roles at independent consumer products testing laboratories including laboratory and client services management, business development, global compliance program development and management, as well as technical consulting, training and protocol development.
Dana Baiocco joined the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on June 1, 2018. She was confirmed by the Senate on May 22, 2018. Ms. Baiocco’s appointment by former President Donald Trump is for a seven-year term, retroactively beginning on October 27, 2017.
Prior to joining the Commission, Ms. Baiocco was a partner at Jones Day, where she was a member of the firm’s Business and Tort Litigation Practice. She joined Jones Day’s Pittsburgh Office in 1998 and, in 2011, she was among the first partners to join the Firm’s Boston Office when it opened. While at Jones Day, Ms. Baiocco become known for strategic business advice and for representing clients in high-intensity trials involving mass torts, consumer and industrial products, and medical devices in federal, state, and international courts. She counseled clients on risk mitigation, compliance with regulatory and reporting obligations, warranties, and product recalls. And, she litigated on behalf of clients in antitrust, construction and bankruptcy matters.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Ms. Baiocco served as a federal law clerk to The Honorable Gustave Diamond, U.S. District Court Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Baiocco earned her law degree from Duquesne University, cum laude, and was awarded the Justice Louis Mandarino Honor Society for Achievement in Trial and Appellate Advocacy. She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Ohio University.
